Scrolling through a feed often turns into a quiet inner dialogue:
"their vacation is better,"
"their car is newer,"
"their budget looks perfect."
These moments don't simply pass by — they leave a trace: subtle anxiety, doubts about your own decisions, and the urge to "catch up."
The psychology of social comparison (Festinger, 1954) has become especially powerful in the digital age: curated content amplifies upward comparison, while notifications and likes reinforce dopamine cycles. Recent studies (Kross et al., 2021; Schmuck et al., 2023; Gerber et al., 2024–2025) demonstrate how frequent comparison of finances and lifestyles on social media correlates with increased financial anxiety, decreased satisfaction with personal achievements, and higher levels of impulsive spending as compensation.
Our webinar series offers a calm and honest space to explore how this mechanism works within us, what emotions it triggers, and which simple, research-based steps can gradually restore the feeling that "my money is my choice." No judgment. No promises of life-changing results. Just awareness and understanding.
